Maliciosa 2227m (second part) - year 1996

This entry is in honour of “Goofy”, who first took me to the Maliciosa´s summit and showed me how to descend to “La Barranca” hotel. It was in The Year of Our Lord, One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Ninety Six, The Year of the Big Dump. The huge thickness of snow that covered the Sierra de Guadarrama that year made this descent possible, along the Maliciosa´s West face and, in fact, it hasn´t been possible to repeat that since. I´m sorry if someone wants to see some photos of me with the board on the summit or descending but I don´t have any. Now, whenever I travel with or without my board, I try to take photographs of every detail, but those were other times. Thank God, my memory hasn´t failed up to now and I have very good memories of that descent, a descent I know I may not be able to do with acceptable snow conditions again. Anyway, I must tell you that I still haven´t given up hope. I downloaded the photo I´ve put here from the internet and so I have no idea when it was taken. What I do know is that it was taken from land of the natural enemy of Cercedilla: Navacerrada. How I curse the inhabitants of that place.

Esta parte la hago en honor a "Goofy", que fue quien me llevó hasta la cima de la Maliciosa por primera vez y me mostró cómo bajar hasta el hotel "La Barranca". Fue en el año santo de 1996, año del paquete. El tremendo espesor de nieve que cubría la Sierra de Guadarrama aquel año hizo posible este descenso por la cara Oeste de la Maliciosa y de hecho a día de hoy no se ha podido repetir aquello. Lo siento si alguien quiere ver fotos mías con la tabla en la cumbre o en el descenso. No existen tales fotos. Ahora intento fotografiar cada palmo que recorro con o sin tabla, pero aquellos eran otros tiempos. Gracias a Dios la memoria no me falla por hoy y tengo muy buenos recuerdos de aquel descenso que no sé si podré volver a hacer con unas condiciones de nieve aceptables. De cualquier forma debo deciros que mi corazón alberga aún esperanzas. La foto que he puesto la he bajado de Internet, así que no tengo la más mínima idea de cuándo fue tomada. Lo que sí sé es que se tomó desde el que es el enemigo natural de Cercedilla: Navacerrada. Malditos sean los moradores de ese lugar.
